Cookies and Sites Hosted by

SME-Web

European law now requires sites to ask for permission for sites to store cookies that hold personal information on the computer of someone accessing the site. Permission is not needed if the cookies are only used to enable the sites functionality. Sites built by SME-Web do not use cookies other than to enable proper working of the site, and these statements cover those sites.

No Cookies set by SME-Web built sites contain personal information.

Clients of SME-Web who build their own sites and host them at SME-Web need to make their own statements concerning cookie use, and should not link to this statement.

The different types of site that SME-Web provide and their cookie use are as follows:

Hand coded sites (e.g. one page sites)

The only uses of cookies by SME-Web handed coded sites are for the human verification code on some contact forms and third party ones set by Paypal, Google, Facebook and Twitter. The contact form cookies expire at the end of the session (i.e. when the browser is closed) and contain no personal information. The third party cookies are outside our control.

Light CMS

The light CMS uses a session cookie which expires at the end of the session (I.e. when the browser is closed).

In addition the Survey module places a cookie for each survey which persists for one year. The survey cookies are there purely to stop multiple entries biasing the survey, they do not record the answers given in the surveys.

Full CMS (Xoops)

The Full CMS uses a session cookie which expires at the end of the session (i.e. when the browser is closed).

Only if you are an administrator are other cookies set at login and these are only to enable management of the site.

Zencart webshop

The Zencart webshop uses a session cookie which expires at the end of the session (I.e. when the browser is closed).

PayPal

Some of our sites use Paypal as a payment mechanism. Paypal uses cookies but these are not posted by our sites and are outside our control.

Google Analytics

Some sites use Google Analytics to record traffic on the site.  There is no personal information held in those cookies and they do not persist once the browser has been closed.

Twitter Feeds

Some sites also use a twitter feed to show you their latest tweets.  Twitter loads a cookie which has a two year persitence, this allocates a guest id to your computer but is not under our control.

Client use of SME-Web CMS and Webshops

To enable management of our CMS and shopping cart sites more persistent cookies are used in order to make the editing work. Once again permission is not needed for this usage
